1. In what way/s does information technology affect the nursing
practice applications? Explain each.
Information technology affect the nursing practice applications
mostly bacause of its benefits to nursing practice which is the automated system when it comes to patient charting, the data
and/or information can be shared to other departments but only
access by authorized persons, it also provide reminders and can be a
medical resources. For the bottomline of this, it enhanced/developed
better nursing care.
2. It is said that the 6th step of the nursing process is the nursing
documentation. Why do you think it was given importance in the
nursing informatics? Defend your answer.
The 6th step of the nursing process, Nursing Documentation was
given importance in the nursing informatics because maintaining a
good quality records has both immediate and long-term benefits for
staff. It can directly benefit them, for example in respect of safety, by
promoting the early identification and appropriate treatment of
potentially violent patient behaviour. In the long term it protects
individuals and teams from accusations of poor record-keeping, and
the resulting drop in morale. It also ensures that the professional
and legal standing of nurses are not undermined by absent or
incomplete records, if they are called to account at a hearing.
3. Why is it that 'collaborating with the health care team' and
'technology' would be critical for the healthcare industry?
Collaborating with the health care team and technology would be
critical for the healthcare industry when it comes to the glitches,
when there would be an error to specific technology like when
suddenly unexpectedly the power was out and that certain
technology only worked with the help of power it would be very
critical for the health industry.
4. What are the advantages of having informatics technology in the nursing practice? The benefits or advantages of information technology to nursing
practice are automated system when it comes to patient charting,
the data and/or information can be shared to other departments but
only access by authorized persons, it also provide reminders and can
be a medical resources. For the bottomline of this, it
enhanced/developed better nursing care.
5. If there was no nursing informatics developed in the history, how do you see the nursing practice now?
If there was no nursing informatics developed in the history, maybe
there would be a very poor patient care for as we all know as time
passes by the population of the world are not getting small instead
our population are getting bigger and bigger and as we all know
with the help of the new technologies now adays through nursing
informatics it gives as a big benefits when it comes to nursing
practice. Can you imagine being in a scenario with a lot of patients
and you alone are doing data gathering manualy?? So we must be
very thankful that nursing informatics are being developed
nowadays.
