1. What are the differences of computer software and hardware? Cite some examples.
The difference of a computer softwae and hardware is that computer software is anything that we are using a system mostly an application like, google, internet explorer, microsoft word, adobe, etc. while the computer hardware are anything physical that can you see in the computer like mouse, cpu, keyboard etc.....
Computer Software is a collection of instructions that enable the user to interact with a computer or have it perform specific tasks for them. Without software, computers would be useless.
For example, without your Internet browser software you would be unable to surf the Internet or read my answer on this page and maybe without a software the browser would not be able
to run on your computer. Same with the other softwares like Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, that we used in our everyday lives without a software we can't have all this things.
Computer hardware is the term for all the Physical parts of a computer. For example is the mouse that I was using right now , to navigate on what ever site i want to go through or which i use as
controller on what software I want to open it looks like an remote .
2. What is the importance of a motherboard in a computer system?
Motherboard is one of the most essential parts of a computer system. It hold together many of the crucial components of a computer, including the central processing unit (CPU), memory and connectors for input and output devices. So the importance of the mother board is that it works like a brain the motherboard contains the central processing unit, the memory, and all the connectors to the rest of the hardware of the computer system, and mostly motherboard has everything connected to it. and the motherboard has control over the cpu. like a real mother and everything else is the children of the mom. u need a mom to help u out and feed u and control u. without a motherboard the computer wont work.
3. List some of the advantage and disadvantages of an Open-Source Software.
The advantages of an open source software is that:
It is a software that is definitely free.
There is estimation that open source software saves huge amount of money than any other types of source software.
It is continuously evolving and upgrading the system.
More developers are using this open source software as an essential part of their businesses and effectively modify it.
Open source software has no limitations.
Using this particular software system indicates freedom to work with several types of systems.
The disadvantages of open source software:
It doesn’t have single source for the system.
This open source software must meet the requirement of acquiring multiple sources for the technical as well as the clinical support for the system.
Acquisition of business logistics of the people.
People who are going to have this open source software in their business must always have the knowledge on how on the logics of businesses.
Assuming ownership of the user.
Not a user friendly system.
This is considered to be not a user-friendly type of system since users will be facing difficulties as they get engage with some of the users in supporting the application of the system.
4. Explain the function of the Power Supply Unit in computers.
The function of the power supply unit or PSU, is that it supplies power to a computer. Most personal computers can be plugged into standard electrical outlets. The power supply then pulls the required amount of electricity and converts the AC current to DC current. It also regulates the voltage to eliminate spikes and surges common in most electrical systems. Not all power supplies, however, do an adequate voltage-regulation job, so a computer is always susceptible to large voltage fluctuations.
Power supplies are rated in terms of the number of watts they generate. The more powerful the computer, the more watts it can provide to components.
5. What is Data Processing and how does this apply in Nursing Informatics?
Data processing refers to the processing of data required to run organizations and businesses. This data processing was applied in nursing informatics when the nursig informatics are about to revised any systems that we are using in the hospital to make it a more better and a useful system.
