1.) How Health Care Policy and Nursing Informatics as a Specialty would improve the health situation in the Philippines? Discuss and elaborate your answer.
Health care policy as specialty would improve the health situation in the Philippines as follows: 1.Formulates and implements the research agenda for health 2. Provides technical assistance, consultation, training and advisory services on matters pertaining to health research and development 3. Develops and coordinates sectoral and internal systems and processes for health research including maintenance of a sustainable health research network 4. Manages the health research process including review of research proposals and dissemination and utilization of research results pertaining to health. Nursing informatics as specialty would improve the health situation in the Philippines by helping vendors to design a better technology solutions and healthcare organizations select and implement solutions that will help nurses as well as have the potential to improve patient care. 2.) Elaborate and discuss the importance of ff theories use in Nursing Informatics Linguistics
• Human- machine interface > to nursing informatics is the electronics required to signal and control the state of industrial automation equipment. These interface products can range from a basic LED status indicator to a 20-inch TFT panel with touchscreen interface. HMI applications require mechanical robustness and resistance to water, dust, moisture, a wide range of temperatures, and, in some environments, secure communication. • Decision science > is concerned with identifying the values, uncertainties and other issues relevant in a given decision, its rationality, and the resulting optimal decision. • Cognitive science > is the scientific study of the human mind. The field is highly interdisciplinary, combining ideas and methods from psychology, computer science, linguistics, philosophy, and neuroscience. • Communication > the imparting or interchange of thoughts, opinions, or information by using the desired technology. • Engineering > concerned with applying scientific knowledge • Library science > is an interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary field that applies the practices, perspectives, and tools of management, information technology, education, and other areas; the collection, organization, preservation, and dissemination of information resources. • Organizational dynamics > the study of how people in a large company or organization behave and react to each other, and of how the organization can be made to work more effectively. 3.) What is the importance of Computerized Prescriber Order Entry (CPOE)? Cite an example
Computerized provider order entry (CPOE) is an application that allows health care providers to use a computer to directly enter medical orders electronically in inpatient and ambulatory settings, replacing the more traditional order methods of paper, verbal, telephone, and fax. CPOE systems can allow providers to electronically enter medication orders as well as laboratory, admission, radiology, referral, and procedure orders. Strictly defined, it is the process by which providers directly enter medical orders into a computer application and that is the importance of CPOE. 4. ) What is the importance of Bar Code- Enabled Point- of Care Technology? Elaborate
The really tremendous advantages of bar codes may, in fact, prove to be in the clinical area. The use of "bar code enabled point of care" (BCPC) helps capture data electronically at the point of service. This includes identifying the caregiver, patient and (for example) medication being administered, all with instrumentation at the bedside. In the medication example, bar code technology can also be used to automatically "chart" the delivery of medications (or other procedures). This helps caregivers spend more real time in patient care, not in paperwork. 5.) Discuss the importance of a good and reliable data standard.
The importance of a good and reliable data with common standards, clinical and patient safety systems can share an integrated information infrastructure whereby data are collected and reused for multiple purposes to meet more efficiently the broad scope of data collection and reporting requirements. 6.) Is our country are capable of full Electronic health record systems? Discuss and elaborate. Support your answers with facts.
The EHR enables clinicians treating people in a variety of settings to exchange and continuously update a patient's clinical data and then present that information in logical clinical groupings that other clinicians can access easily. EMR / EHR adoption - With the Philippine Health Information Exchange (PHIE) targeted to be operational by December 2014, means many hospitals and health facilities will be adopting electronic medical record solutions. We don’t have the aggregate number but, we hear about a number of EMR system implementations, such as the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development of the DOST’s eHealth Tablet that was initially deployed to 10 healthcare facilities around the Philippines. We’d be very interested to get some information on EMR usage in the Philippines. Philippines is not yet capable of full HER .
